TOO MANY ISSUES, TOO LITTLE TIME

It's time again for a summary of the past month's events that I just couldn't find the time to cover completely.

*NAMBLAWOOD*

As further evidence of what I believe is the next issue for the Hollywood/academic types (now that the Gay Rights Issue is all but done), here's is yet more proof that Hollywood wants you to believe that child/adult sex should not be a crime. Roman Polanski (yes the same Roman Polanski that I pointed out in an earlier post) was arrested in Switzerland on a 30 year old charge related to his drugging and raping a 13 year old girl and then fleeing the U.S.. Hollywood's finest promptly began a petition campaign begging for his release signed by over 100 cinema industry stars. Still think I'm off on this? Look at his photos to how see MSN portrays him compared to FOX. I think we can see who's taking Roman's side. By the way, where are the Feminists in Hollywood? Is violence against women now O.K. if it's long enough ago? If she's been bought off? If the perp happens to be a producer?

*The Nobel Peace Prize for Underachievement goes to..*

Barrack Obama of course. The choice of President Obama for this years Nobel Peace Prize brought gasps from the crowd at the assembly. It's no wonder, when the voting took place Obama had been in office a scant 12 days. Obviously, this was a vote of confidence by the committee for what they believe President Obama will do, not what he has done. No matter what they say. I personally think they should rename the prize, "The award for simply not being Bush". Because that's exactly what it really is. This has got to be really steaming up Bill Clinton who has watched Carter, Gore and now Obama sweep the award while he sits on the sidelines. For the Republicans who thought this was some kind of an outrage-calm down. No one has taking this award seriously since they gave it to the two-headed terrorist Yasser Arafat. Besides, Obama's said he hasn't done anything to deserve it and is donating the proceeds to charity. The world finally liking one of our Presidents isn't all that bad a thing ya know.

*Gay Hate Crimes*

The Democrat led U.S. House of Representative bowed to it's constituency last Thursday by voting to expand Hate Crime Laws to include sexual orientation. This is wrong (IMO) on several levels. Mostly though, it's wrong because it values some victims over others. I'm an egalitarian when it come to people. I find it criminal to value any one's life over someone elses. Black, white, gay, straight, cop, or homeless person, your mother or mine cries the same. This starts a very bad trend that I don't feel anyone, particularly Democrats who pride themselves on being for social equality, should support. BTW, it's interesting to note that the group that suffers the most deaths due to hate crimes is homeless people, not gay people. But I guess they just don't wear fashionable enough clothes to be elevated.

*Governor Granholm still clinging to Big Government*

Demonstrating exactly why Michigan is in a one state depression, Buffy the Job Slayer again shows why businesses can't stand her.

Well, that's it for now. Hopefully I'll have more time next week for a full, all out report on something or another that outrages me. Until then, take care of one another. H.C.

HC, oh you just don't fall into the normal short attention span of the Obama generation. I would imagine you also took American History in high school. Oh, and GASP... You even had to memorize all the state capitols. Come on, admit it, it's the first step in the NEW AMERICA twelve step rehab program....

Child sex offenders should be executed. You cannot rehabilitate a sexual offender. Those that prey on the population, in that manner, should be exterminated. No one said it better than Brother Ted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUO3TMO-ezo

I'm here to offer my services as 'State Executioner' (since the Liberalites seem to wonder who would ever want to 'pull the switch'). I'm ready: Burn baby, burn....

Nobel Peace Prize? Ya gotta be kidding... This dude is going to escalate the war in Afganistan (you and I are on the same page here). Where's the peace? Oh, I forgot, he paraded around the world apologizing for the USA. Showtime and Politics have finally gone Global. I'm not in the apologetic mood right now. I'm gagging...

No one should EVER have more rights than ANYONE else. And I don't GAF, where you came from, who 'owned' ya before, or if you sit to pee, or slip a tongue to your 'significant other'. I am one of the few in this state that will never set a foot in an indian run casino. Sorry, if only a 'select group' can operate a casino (or 'bend the laws'), that's preferential treatment. And that's descrimination (don't get me started on their fishing and hunting 'rights').

Ahhh... Guvnor GranMole... What more can be said. She can twist a statement into 'Guvment is evil' and toss in a couple social programs to bolster her case. Sorta like the old: 'Are you still molesting your daughter?' question. Those that have no clue, continue to attack those that do.

Hey Hack,
Absolutely, I took American history, although I'll admit American geography wasn't my strong suit. While the Libs will tell you we're on a 12 step program out of our addiction to exploitation, I believe we're on a 12 step away from success. Can we be better? Sure. But turning away from the principles of self-reliance, self discipline, and entrepreneurism isn't the answer.

"Child sex offenders should be executed."
In principle, I'm against the death penalty only because it isn't administered fairly (rich people will NEVER get it, that's just the way the system works). However, I'm willing to make an exception for child molestors. I'll fill in for you on the days you want off.

The Nobel committee is a joke and has been for a while. I don't blame Barrack for this one though.

Another Egalitarian! Why is it so hard for people to understand you can't value people differently and have anything close to equality?

How many more days is it before we're finally rid of this clueless Governor?

Thanks for your input!

Oh goody! Some more Assorted News posts. My favorites:

(1) Are you really suprised by Hollywood's unconditional and undying support for a child rapist?

I've never had a problem with people recognizing - and even honoring - a person's body of work. But to simply overlook clear and undeniable guilt from a dude is simply astonishing. We ran into a similar discussion in talking about Michael Jackson's story. While both of their stories are prime examples of wealthy, connected people perverting children AND perverting justice, I'm not so sure Mike was as predatory as Roman (also, Mike had a certain level of nobility placed on him generally reserved once a person dies); but both were nefarious. But the fact that this dude drugged and raped a kid...and remains unapologetic today is insane to me.

(2) I swear on all things sacred I was about to write a post saying the VERY SAME THING about the Prez getting the NPP. This award was a politicized way of giving Bush the finger. I mean, for a moment I thought I could've been a winner this year. But even I have to admit, that Barry getting the award RIGHT NOW was a shock. One, he's been sitting back WAY too passively as Israel continues their regional terror against Palestine. Of course, that's a reflection of the US's pro-Israel, anti-everybody else foreign policy, but he has the muscle to change the country's direction. Well, sorta. Which takes me to point...two, the company he keeps. His adminstration is full of centrist Democrats (as opposed to real progressives) and moderate Republicans who are more like to continue with Bush's war advocacy. I don't think HE'S a warmonger...he's simply inheriting the mess Bush left him. But surrounding himself with hawks has not...nor has it ever...been a good look for a person in line to win a peace award. I'm happy for Obama...and he's certainly not as bad as the likes of Kissinger. But the Nobel Peace Prize this early in the game is a stretch.

I was also thinking of the egg that must be on Slick Willy's face. I was seriously thinking the exact same thing. Odd.

(3) I'm not particularly moved either way by the decision to expand hate crimes. I'm no more convinced that this bill will be effective at curbing crimes against gays and/or retaliatory violence as gun control laws will be useful in quelling gun violence (gasp! Did Andre say...g-g-g-guns?!)

(4) I've argued before that SOMEBODY has to be an agent of defense against greedy corporate interests...even if those people are made up of the (gasp) government. Yikes! Another scary g-word. But I think maybe...just maybe...people should listen to Steve Wynn. Given that he had the mind and the ability to maintain his company with savings during this economic nightmare without laying people off, he may have something important to say.

Hey Dre,
1) No, I'm not at all suprised NAMLAWOOD is supporting Roman. I predict (and have been) that you will see more and more defending of child/adult sex by them. The issue they are going to raise is WHEN does an child become a consenting adult. They will use other cultures to validate their point of view and will work to make it more acceptable by normalizing first vast age differences (as they already are with Cougars) and secondly by sexualizing children so the line becomes blurry (as they already are with Miley and Carly and others). As far as Roman being unapologetic-In their view, what's to apologize for? Instant gratification is all that matters.
2)Of course! Great minds think alike. Despite that I call you to task occassionally (as you do me) we aren't very far apart in our basic principles and since we both seek the other sides opinions, it's not suprising we often come to the same conclusion. I'm rather suprised at how many people I have talked to that seem to believe it's Obama's fault he got an award he may or may not have deserved.
3)Don't get me started on Guns! All joking aside, we have to be careful that we don't end up with a different version of Jim Crow laws. Even though I believe equal justice is unachievable, that should be our goal. Paramount to that goal is the belief that everyone is equal in the eyes of the courts.
4)Absolutely, I've said it before and I'll say it again, Government HAS to be a counterbalance in the name of the people to the power of big corporations. However, what Jen seemed to be arguing is that government can be the main tool for lifting the overall populace up finacially. That's a failed notion. The idea that works is simple; create wealth so that you have the finances (through increases revenues created by that increased wealth without raising taxes) and then using those increased revenues to provide necessary government services. Jen's plan to increase the dependent side while decreasing the revenue side is a disaster! I found it odd that she was trying to argue her bone-headed philosophy with a man who is an obvious success when she is such a failure.
