MORE SNIPPETS

First, I want to apologize for not keeping up on my blogging duties. Between babysitting my Grandkids, taking care of my Mom, and this new recent development with my back, (I'm having surgery on the 16th of February) I'm just not feeling it lately-be patient, it'll come back.

Anyway, despite my recluse behavior, I have been following the news and have a few brief things I want to share with you.

JOBS: THAT'S SPELLED G...A...Y...S

In an effort to convince us that Obama and the Dems are concerned about the present high unemployment, President Obama made jobs the focus of his State of the Union speech. The problem is, right after his soaring rhetoric, he went right back to his left wing agenda. I find it incredibly hard to believe that anyone would think his new focus is jobs when every bit of effort (minus a few words about a soon-to-be-debated Jobs bill.) has been on overturning "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". A little pop quiz; Who brought "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" to the military? That's right, President Clinton. Maybe we should go back and look at some of the reasons Bill thought it would be a better idea than having gays serve "openly"-whatever the Hell that means. With our economy in the dumps and the market free-falling it's hard to understand why the whole MSM thinks this should be the number one issue. The support I've had for Gay Advocates is fading fast. How about a few key members saying, "You know, I really want this, but now is just not the time"

STATE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN (it's horrible!)

Here in the state of Michigan, we've had to suffer the very worst Governor we've ever seen. Every single economic indicator is worse than when she got here and people are fleeing. Her supporters claim it's all the fault of the auto manufacturers leaving. Fair enough. But can someone explain to me why we got 45% of all the Big Three layoffs?? There are 6 "Rust Belt" states, and we get 45%? The second highest state in terms of manufacturing job loss was South Carolina and it's not even one of the Rust Belt states. We're not the biggest union state or even the state with the most manufacturing. So my question is; why us? Despite this, the MSM continues it's disregard for it's duties and openly makes excuses for Granholm's ineptness. I have always given woman candidates an edge in an effort to right an imbalance. However, if they are not going to be criticized on the Democrat side no matter how badly they perform, (for instance, Janet I-wouldn't-know-a-terrorist-if-he-were-wearing-an-I-Love-Osama Bin Laden-t-shirt Napolitano) then my days of voting for them are over.

THE SECOND FLOOD

Get this. What's the happiest state in the whole U.S.? Give up? Here's a clue. They have a team that just won the Super Bowl. That's right, Louisiana. The state that was wiped out by hurricane Katrina. How could this be possible in such a short time? Easy, a flood of taxpayer money. The Feds have now pumped 10's of billion$ into the state. Their unemployment is now at 7.5%. That's far below the nationwide average of 9.7%. Money is flowing in every direction and Obama and the Dems have promised even more! For the record, my state, Michigan, is at 14.7% unemployment. Twice what Louisiana has. My guess is the money will keep flowing until New Orleans looks like Dubai. The Recovery Act is sending another $538,575,876 for infrastructure spending which White House officials estimate will create 50,000 jobs. That's over $500 million for the happiest state, with no deficit and one of the lowest unemployment rates in the U.S.. Anyone want to take a stab at why??

O.K., that's all for now. I may be a little slow to post anything while I'm recovering-or I may get so bored that I write a lot more. We'll just have to wait and see. H.C.

HC: Wish ya the best in your after surgery recovery!

GAYS.
Alas.... I just don't care. Really, I just don't care.
I've given up caring about any issues they had/have/might. So I'm sort of the anti-conservative when it comes to that, because I realize that inspite of all the rationalization on both sides: Our world is moving toward acceptance. Or reluctant acceptance.

MICHIGAN.
Geez, how many representatives do you think we'll lose after this years census? I'm thinking at least one, with two a definite possibility. That should bring us down to the level of GA, NC, and (gulp) NJ. Last census MI lost one seat (Lynn Rivers-thank God). Don't get me started on my Electoral College RANT (with Kalifornia and Knew York having a total of 72 elektoral votes - we're all screwed).

GUVNOR GRANDMOLE.
Still everyone's darling. Yeah: What's up with us losing a disproportional amount of production jobs? Oh.. Never mind. I forgot, it was Engler's fault. No, I stand corrected, it was Bush's fault. No, it was Shrek. That's right: SHREK. Or whatever BoogieMan the Media can shift the focus to.

How 'bout those 124 pardons? A new record for any Michigan Guv. (Hey Jenny, my offer to be State Executioner is still on the table).

However, Jenny prediction was correct: 'in five years, you'll be blown away..' She was just talking about two of our US representative.

Hey Hack,
Thanks, I'll let you know how bad it is, (Bi-lateral Laminectomy & Discectomy). Just in case anyone you know is considering it.

GAYS- I agree, except when it takes time and effort away from saving our crumbling economy. Have you seen the chaos in the E.U.? Scary stuff.

MICHIGAN- Again, you raise a great point that I overlooked. On top of all our other woes, now we're going to lose representation too. Sigh. My home state, reduced to The Shit Mitt.

GRANDMOLE- Damn Shrek! I knew Shrek and his stupid Donkey were behind this. I read about the 124 pardons in a small piece in the Detroit News. Yet another story pushed to D-12. I love that "You'll be blown away!" quote. I used to refer to her as "Hurricane Jenny" before I realized "Buffy the Job Slayer" fit her even better.

Thanks for your thoughts and your well-wishing. I'll take all I can get.

(1) DADT: This is prime example of why Obama's first year was for the most part a failure. Instead of keeping his eyes on THE most pressing issue getting him elected in the first place (the economy), he has allowed the peripheral issues to hijack & disrupt his agenda. With the exception of certain obvious bigots, I'm sure none of us want to see anybody being discriminated against. But DADT ranks up there as one of the insignificant issues weighing down this administration.

Besides, too many people are focused more on the "...Don't Tell" part of things. What about the "Don't Ask..." part? Frankly, I don't need to know ANYBODY's sexual preference...unless, of course, I want to date them myself.

(2) Michigan economy: Michael Moore gave the Governor and her supporters all the ammo they needed to explain away the dire economic situation we have. "It's not our fault the economy sucks. Have you seen Roger and Me?!"

But unfortunately for them, it doesn't explain how the administration didn't see the writing on the wall when as many as 632,000 jobs out of the 870,000 were lost during their tenure. I wasn't completely convinced that DeVos had the right idea either (not even making a small hint at Green Job development), but he surely couldn't botched things this badly.

(3) Dem Happy Cajuns: Studies measuring qualitative variables have always been a little suspect to me. Besides that, this is a statewide study, not limited to regional analysis. I'm sure the folks who were displaced from New Orleans aren't as happy as the people living comfortably in their homes in Baton Rouge. If you're not careful, following studies like these on an aggregate level could cause people to ignore things on the individual level.

Also, when I see employment statistics, I get a little leary. Are we only talking about gainful employment or are we also referring to minimum wage/substandard employment? My point: everthing - including stats - is relative. Still, the numbers you present are staggering.

Finally, I wish the best next week in your operation. You're in my prayers, bro. I hope you can still drop the occasional nugget or two on your blog. But if not, we'll try to hold down the fort for you.

Hey Dre,
1)no argument there.
2) I warned everyone that if they wanted soemone who was good at excuses, then Jen was the one to vote for. She's now on her 8th state of the state and she's still promoting her losing philosophy as if it's brand new. I have some serious issues with the idea of "green jobs" being the savior of our economy. It has to be subsidized, therefore, it takes more money out of all of our pockets (unless you save over the long run, which I can't see). It's the right thing to do, I'll grant you, but let's stop trying to say it'll produce jobs instead of displacing them from another sector or source at a higher cost. I'll cover that issue better another time.
3) I understand what your saying Andre, and I'm sure that there are sections of Louisiana that are far more in need than others. But isn't that true in Michigan? Rhode Island? BTW, New Orleans, which will need the bulk of the infastructure rebuilding, now has a population of (Est. 2008) 336,644 That's about $1,600.00 per person, in one bill, 4 1/2 years after the event. I'm not trying to be harsh, but at what point does it end? I'm starting to feel like we put them on permanent welfare while the rest of the country is falling apart. This has become completely political and no longer based on need. IMO.

Thanks for your prayers, Andre. I'll take all I can get. I'm counting on you to keep these politicians straight 'til I get back to help.

WOW! And all this time I thought you closed down your blog!

Hot Damn SON! Let's have sUm fun. :)

Reading your posts surely show you coming over to our Libertarian side. ;)

Yes, first Congress approved BS monies as "last years business".
Then, the bank's are tooooo big to fail, and those monies are NEVER ending come to find out reading the bailout bill.

Next, it's we need health care NOW!
Millions of us are dying in gutters everyday! NOW! NOW! NOW!

Oh, we now find us in year (2). We must now spend monies to create jobs.
ROFLMAO

Yeah, ya think it's time for The American People's turn, Obama and Congress?!
And to all of you McCain people out there, the exact same would have happened period.

Well, that was fun. :)
Take care buddy and don't forget to demand a sponge bath and a morphine drip. :)

Hey Rod,
Glad to have ya back. I've always been a bit of a Libertarian at heart. The only difference between me and other Libby's is that they don't believe in regulating business and I do. Of course, there's a limit to how far you should be able to go, but I've always said, "Republicans trust CEO's too much and Democrats trust Dictators too much. To me, they're the same people with different jobs."

I was against the bailouts, I thought GM should be allowed to fail along with Chrysler. I believe we had no choice but to bail out the banks, but bailing them out AND the people who insured them is just re-God-Damn-diculous. That's double dippin' of the worst kind. Health Care Reform is a disaster. All we needed was catastrophic care for the uninsured (that idea is backed by Rush, O'Reilly, and Ben Stein to name a few). But instead we get this mess. I feel like I have to choose between Greedy and Stupid. I believe the Republicans would like us to conform to having our house robbed occasionally as opposed to having the Dems burn it down. When will we wake up?

It's nice to hear from you again, I'll take your advice on the morphine drip, but I want to see the nurse before I submit to the sponge bath.
